About UK Metal Prices
UK Metal Prices provides live scrap metal prices for the UK market, updated daily from scrap yards across the country. We aggregate prices for copper, aluminium, steel, brass, lead, stainless steel, and zinc across 36 scrap grades.
Who Built This
UK Metal Prices was created by Taro Schenker, a metals market researcher with over 15 years of experience investing in precious and base metals. Taro also founded London Gold Exchange, one of the UK's most comprehensive precious metals price and dealer resources, with a verified database of 242+ UK gold dealers.
How Our Prices Work
Our price data comes from three layers:
- LME Spot Prices ... we fetch daily London Metal Exchange commodity prices for copper, aluminium, zinc, lead, and nickel. These are the global benchmark prices that UK scrap yards use as a reference.
- UK Scrap Yard Prices ... we collect published buy prices from scrap yards across the UK daily, covering all major regions from London to Scotland. These prices show what yards actually pay to the public.
- Calculated Estimates ... where direct yard data isn't available for a grade, we estimate using the relationship between LME spot prices and industry-standard discount factors per grade.
Our Data Sources
We currently aggregate prices from 8 UK scrap yard sources across 6 regions. Our scraper runs daily and stores every price point, building a historical dataset that no other free resource provides. We never republish a single yard's exact price list. All prices shown are averages across multiple sources.
