What is Pure Nickel Solids?
Pure nickel solids are wrought nickel scrap with 99% or higher purity, primarily from the Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 alloy series. These materials are used in chemical processing, food production, and electroplating because of their corrosion resistance. Pure nickel commands 85-92% of the LME Nickel Cash price because it can be directly reused as high-purity feedstock without complex refinement.
Tips for best price
- Pure nickel is non-magnetic. Use a magnet to quickly distinguish from nickel-plated steel.
- Plating anodes from electroplating shops are the most common pure nickel source.
- Old chemical processing equipment (caustic soda plants) often contains pure nickel vessels.
- Ask the yard to XRF-test before weighing. Pure nickel is too valuable to grade by eye.
