What is Mixed Brass?
Mixed brass covers the typical brass items found in domestic and commercial settings: taps, door handles, pipe fittings, valves, keys, and decorative items. Brass is a copper-zinc alloy (typically 60-70% copper) and is priced relative to LME copper.
Tips for best price
- Separate brass from copper. Mixing them downgrades the copper to braziery pricing.
- Chrome-plated brass (taps, fittings) is accepted as mixed brass.
- Check with a magnet. Brass is non-magnetic. If it sticks, it's plated steel.
