What is Brass Radiators?
Brass radiators are traditional heat exchangers built mainly from copper tubes and fins with brass tanks or headers, joined with solder. They are most often found in older cars, commercial vehicles, agricultural machinery, and industrial cooling equipment. Steel frames, plastic, oil, and excessive attachments reduce the recoverable copper-alloy content, so yards may distinguish clean cores from complete radiators.
Tips for best price
- Look for reddish copper fins or tubes and yellow brass tanks rather than an all-silver aluminium core.
- Remove steel side plates, plastic shrouds, hoses, fans, and brackets where safe and practical.
- Drain coolant or oil fully and tell the yard what the radiator was used for.
- Separate copper-brass radiators from all-aluminium and aluminium-copper cores before delivery.
