What is Cast Aluminium?
Cast aluminium is made by pouring molten alloy into a mould rather than rolling or extruding it. Common scrap includes gearbox and engine housings, pump bodies, casings, and some cookware or furniture components. It is usually duller and more brittle than wrought sheet or extrusion, and its silicon-rich alloy chemistry is handled separately by remelters. A casting with steel shafts, liners, bolts, or bearings attached may be bought as irony aluminium instead.

- Drain oil and coolant from automotive or machinery parts before transport.
- Separate clean housings from complete assemblies; hidden steel can change the yard grade.
