What is Braziery Copper?
Braziery copper (also spelled "braizery") is copper that has been contaminated with brass fittings, lead solder, or other metals during its use. This typically comes from plumbing work where copper pipe has brazed-on brass valves, compression fittings, or radiator connections. The name comes from brazing, the process of joining metals with brass filler.
Tips for best price
- If you have time, cut off the brass fittings. The clean pipe is heavy copper grade.
- Lead-washed braziery (with heavy lead solder) is worth even less. Separate it.
- Old hot water system pipe is usually braziery due to the solder joints.
