What is Low Grade Cable?
Low grade cable covers steel wire armoured (SWA) cable, data/networking cable (Cat5, Cat6), telephone cable, and any cable with a low copper recovery percentage (under 30%). The steel armour or heavy insulation makes these cables less valuable per kg.
Tips for best price
- SWA cable is heavy but mostly steel. Don't expect copper prices.
- Data cable has very thin copper strands. Not worth stripping.
- Keep separate from household cable. Mixing drags down the overall price.
