What is No.2 Copper?
No.2 copper includes copper items with solder joints, light paint, thin oxidation, or minor coatings. It also covers greasy bright wire. The copper content must still be at least 94-96%. This is the "catch-all" grade for copper that isn't clean enough for heavy copper but isn't contaminated enough for braziery.
Tips for best price
- If you can easily clean off the coating, it's worth upgrading to heavy copper.
- Burnt wire (stripped by burning off insulation) falls into this grade due to oxidation.
- Keep separate from braziery. No.2 copper should have minimal brass contamination.
