What is Stripped Copper Cable?
Stripped copper cable is wire where the PVC or rubber insulation has been removed, exposing the copper core. This includes single-core cable, PVC pyro, and any cable where stripping is economical. The key factor is the quality of the strip. Clean, complete stripping gets close to bright wire pricing.
Tips for best price
- Only strip cable with 50%+ copper content. Below that, the labour isn't worth it.
- Use a cable stripping machine for large quantities. Much faster than hand stripping.
- Singles (single-core 6mm+) are the most economical to strip.
- Don't burn cable to strip it. Burnt wire is downgraded and it's illegal.
